Its no surprise that Kojima, the father of the Metal Gear series, is a fan of old literature and movies. Most of his games and works have been inspired by Hollywood. Sometimes his work references Hollywood a little TOO much. In this recent John Carpenter interview, just in time for Halloween, we learn why Kojima was not any legal trouble over his overbearing references to Mr. Carpenter’s often action packed movies.

And so Initial D has finally ended. Did you hear? Of course you did. What? You have no idea what Initial D is? Seriously?
Initial D (頭文字D) is an anime series based on the manga by Shigeno Shuuichi ( しげの 秀一). It’s about street racing on mountain passes, which is super illegal (but who cares? It’s anime), with these cool cars performing awesome drifts.
I fell in love with Initial D the first time I watched it more than a decade ago. The art style of Initial D: First Stage wasn’t the greatest—just look at the image below—but they used some cool 3D effects on the cars during races, and that’s when I got hooked.

Another month, another Ichibankuji (Number one lottery) event! This month they brought forth their first all Capcom 30th Anniversary lottery! The best part about this Ichibankuji is that every ticket is a winner! Some prizes are really cheap, and not worth their 600 yen a turn fee, but I love Capcom so nothing was a loss! Winning exactly what you want is difficult, so I splashed down 3000 yen, the most I’ve ever spent on a lottery, and won an awesome array of goods.

Saved by the bell, the popular teen high school drama, was a great part of my youth. I spent the greater part of my later high school life watching the original series. The show was originally going to be named “When the bell rings” which similarly resembles the name Higurashi no naku koro ni” (When the Higurashi Cry). Featuring the cast of Final Destination, and a similiar plot, this spinoff, one shot, comedy piece based on Saved by the bell, was no doubt a big hit. Warning, the video is a little Hollywood gory.
